Solid mycelium composite

In our Solid Mycelium Composite workshop, participants can experience the process of growing their own mushroom-based decorative bowl. Using mycelium and natural fibers, they shape and prepare the material in a mould, then observe how the living mycelium binds the structure together as it grows. The workshop offers a hands-on introduction to mycelium as a material and explores how biological growth can become part of the making process.

You will learn:

- Which species are the best to work with to create solid mycelium projects

Mycelium Textile

Participants can discover the possibilities of working with mycelium-based textile materials by creating their own small pouch. You’ll learn how to handle, cut, and sew the material while exploring its unique texture and structure. The workshop offers a hands-on introduction to mycelium textiles and shows how a naturally grown material can be transformed into a functional everyday object.

You will learn:

- The background of growing mycelium based textile alternatives
- The different types of mushroom alternatives available
- How to process them
- What are the important factors when working with it
- How to create a mycelium textile based pouch

Get hands-on with mycelium textile and discover how it can be cut, sewn and shaped into new forms. During the workshop, you’ll create your own small project and take home a piece made by you.

Basics of working with mycelium

Participants get an introduction to the fundamentals of working with fungal mycelium through hands-on experimentation. You’ll learn about the basic conditions mycelium needs to grow and explore the principles of working in a clean, controlled environment. As part of the workshop, you’ll learn how to inoculate a petri dish and observe the mycelium as it develops over time. It’s an accessible introduction to the fascinating world of fungi and the potential of mycelium as a living material.
